Étienne Kawczak-Wirz is a French visual artist, filmmaker, 3D generalist and composer. His practice is resolutely multidisciplinary, and over the past three years has focused in particular on 3D animation and music. He is currently in his second year at Le Fresnoy – Studio National des Arts Contemporains.

His work explores themes of technological alienation, disobedience as an act of survival, and the return to a more primal and creative essence.

Through films such as La Colère de Dario, Bedroom, Noise, and Désolation Verte, he opens up mental architectures, reflections of a restless oneiricism where figures appear to hover in a state of survivance.

In 2023, he launched the music project Zone Minor Modification, a hybrid sound drawing on both ancient and contemporary references, at the crossroads of the organic and the electronic.

Alongside his personal practice, he co-founded in 2019 the studio Unexplored Fields, dedicated to digital creation and specializing in the production of 3D content for the fields of fashion, music, and the performing arts.
